Initial Preparation: Extracting Font Attachments, Chapters, and Subtitles

Before the actual encoding, we'll first do the preparations on the source video tracks. We have to break down and get the necessary parts of the source. On this step, I decided to use an mkv source of a high quality and high resolution video.

Step 1: Open the MKVExtractGUI2.exe

NOTE: MKVExtractGUI2.exe should be in the the mkvtoolnix directory

Step 2: Input the source video

Extract the subs and title, as well as the font attachments. Just put the font files into your system's font directory (in my case, C:\Windows\Fonts). If you plan to share your mini mkv, it's better to attach the fonts into the subtitle file (*.ass) by using Aegisub.

You should now have the subtitle track(ass/srt) and chapter file(xml) on your default directory, and the font info in your system.
